Is Remote Physical Therapy Right For Me?
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take my insurance plan?
No, and for good reason. Insurance can require you to foot the bill if your issue doesn't resolve within an arbitrary number of billable sessions. If you have chronic pain or healing takes longer than you expect, that's bad news.
Siento's affordable plans can provide you with unlimited access and guarantee that your rate will never go up.
While you could pay $150 or more to your local PT for just one session, you can pay $150 our Basic plan for a whole month of service.
To learn more about our plans, click here.
If you would like, we can help you submit a super bill to your insurance, but payment by them can't be guaranteed.
Payments to Siento are FSA/HSA eligible.
Does remote physical therapy work?
Physical therapy is a collaborative process between patient and provider. What patients do in their sessions is obviously important, but the work they do outside of these sessions is what gives physical therapists the data needed to fine-tune and fast track recovery.
In particular, remote physical therapy frees patients from the constraints of physical appointments and in-person communication. Video calls allow patients to reduce inconsistency or missed visits due to scheduling and transportation issues. Text messaging with their providers means patients can seek help as soon as there is a problem. These benefits can significantly impact the speed and quality of recovery.
If you’d like to know if remote physical therapy is right for you specifically, check out our blog post that dives deeper into this question.
What if I need in-person physical therapy?
During our initial session, we will be upfront about whether we think we can treat you. If we think you need manual therapy or specialized care, we will help you find a provider by vetting practices in your area. We will take into consideration credentials that are most relevant to helping you meet your goals.
It's important to us that you get better, no matter what.
How long will I need remote physical therapy?
There are many factors that influence how long it takes to recover from an injury or movement issue. For most of the issues we see, it typically takes 4-8 weeks before seeing a substantial improvement.
This does not mean you should avoid movement in the meantime! In fact, one of our first goals is to help you figure out what you can keep doing to stay healthy while you recover.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
This depends on where you live, but there is a good chance that you do not. 18 states have unlimited direct access to physical therapy, meaning you do not need a doctor's referral. Other states have certain provisions or requirements that must be met.
If you click here, you can check whether we are available in your state. If we are, we will help you determine whether you need a referral or prescription.
Can my friend or family member attend video calls with me?
Absolutely. In fact, we encourage this! Having a friend or family member present during your video calls can strengthen your personal support system.
What if I already have a physical therapist?
We do not recommend seeing multiple physical therapists at once, as this can complicate your treatment plan.
Many people choose Siento because they ran out of insured sessions. Others choose Siento because they have finished sessions with their previous therapist and want to retain the skills they've learned, and/or progress to other goals. If any of these apply to you, you’re in the right place.
What if I have other questions? Can I contact Siento?
